On May 1st, join us in Balboa Park for the start of the FREE TUESDAY summer museum excursions. We will be visiting the Reuben H. Fleet Center from 11:00AM to 3:00PM. Bring either a sandwich or let Irene know that you’re interesting in buying a Subway Sandwich for our picnic after the museum. We hadn’t played Golf! in a while and it showed last month so on May 3rd, we’ll be playing it again. Y’all better be practicing your swings or you’ll be hearing Nita Kramer yell out FORE as she graciously gives everyone 10 points again. Greg Henderson, no SDSU classes so you BETTER show up!
On Sunday, May 6th, join us in Old Town to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. We will be meeting at the theater at 4040 Twiggs St. at 12 noon. We will wait for 15 minutes before starting to wander around Old Town taking in the festivities.
On Tuesday, May 8th our Movie Matinee will be Phantom Thread starting Daniel Day Lewis. This movie is set in 1950's London, Reynolds Woodcock is a renowned dressmaker whose fastidious life is disrupted by a young, strong-willed woman, Alma, who becomes his muse and lover. This movie is 2 hours and 15 minutes. We’ll have a light “ladies lunch” or maybe just pizza during the movie.
On May 15th, come get your Picasso on as we paint ceramic pots in anticipation of our Gardening activity on May 29th. Both craft activities will begin at 2:30PM to give us plenty of time to finish up our pots.
Who could forget our month Bingo game on May 17th. DJ Will Soul will be calling out those numbers since Miss Sharlene will be busy with the Fair. Game starts no later than 1:15PM with cards starting at $5.00. No Thursday meal since we will be headed out to El Cajon for their only Thursday night concert… Stars on the Water. If taking MTS please give 190 E. Douglas Ave El Cajon so you can be dropped off in the parking lot behind the stage.
Join us in El Cajon on Saturday, May 19, 2018 for the Annual America on Main Street festivities. This entertaining and exciting event is held every year in Downtown El Cajon on East Main Street and Rea Avenue, between Magnolia and Claydelle Avenues, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In 2018, America on Main will be celebrated on May 19th, which also coincides with Armed Forces Day. Pack a picnic or purchase food from the local vendors and come join us. We will be at our usual spot

On Thursday May 24th our Movie Matinee will be the much anticipated The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman. The movie celebrates the birth of show business, and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. This is a MUST SEE movie since we’ve already seen it three times and it gets better each time! We have an early start time of 2:00PM since there’s an evening activity at the clubhouse that night.
